Star Hotel – circa early 1900’s. This business was established in 1871 by Frank Zeman. It had 22 rooms. Several decades later it would be owned by the Meyer family and eventually called Pat’s Tap Room starting in the 1940’s. Pat’s Tap Room – circa 1950’s – Giant Feature Matchbook, back. This matchbook would have been given away during the holidays. It was known as a giant feature matchbook measuring 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″. The matches are 3″ tall with a night before xmas scene printed across them.

The New Opera House – 1950 – is the building with the numerous advertisements painted on the side. The larger square portion that shows the Miller High Life sign was the first to be torn down in the middle 1950’s. The main building fronting N. 8th St. stood for another 25 years.
