Del’s Cardinal Lounge – 1960’s. This is Wally Fritsch and the ladies from the hair salon next door, playing a trick on Del by posting this sign in the front window during Del’s absence. The Jim in the sign refers to Jim Kiesner who worked as a bartender for many years, not only at Del’s, but also places such as Art Braunnel’s Bowling Alley & Bar. This from Jim’s son, Kenn: “When Jimmy tended at Art Braunnels during and just after the war (until 1952), Art had to many times bring in two keepers to replace him. Wally & Jim were the best one-two bartenders in the business. We spent many days there, including around Christmas when we came in for the Cardinal’s famous “Tom & Jerry’s”. I was at Brault’s at times watching the batter being made and hurried down to the bar.” Photo courtesy of Gwen Brault.

Mike’s Buffalo Inn – Summer 2009. This tavern appeared for a short time after Robin’z Hood closed. I don’t believe an outside sign was ever erected. This photo was taken through the front window after it was out of business with the wall sign displaying “Mike’s Buffalo Inn”.
